Description [EN]
1:30 - 4:30 at Ben Franklin Place "The goal of this workshop is to provide a better understanding of the interpretation of legislation to support workers whose clients are at risk of eviction due to mental health issues and/ or addictions. The workshop provides an overview of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Residential Tenancies Act, and the duty to accommodate a tenant who has mental health issues and/ or addictions. It demystifies the process of how the Board reaches its decisions, and describes the circumstances that it must consider prior to making a decision to evict a tenant. The workshop provides practical information illustrated by examples. The presentation also includes a special ‘Support Worker’s Section’ geared specifically to the issues that support workers may face when dealing with tenants who are facing eviction"
