Please do not register for this program if you have not taken UMAB in the last year.
This is the second day of UMAB with an additional day of advanced skills. It is a TWO day program.
You can also just register for the second day as a 'Recertification"
The final module in the UMAB certificate program deals with containment and physical restraints. There is emphasis placed on the level of intervention matching or paralleling the level of aggression displayed. The restraint portion of training is very specific to body mechanics and has a high level of effectiveness. This type of training requires a hands-on, experiential learning environment. When you complete the 3-day program and successfully demonstrate the UMAB technique and philosophy, you will receive certification.
You will learn to:
Apply consistent and safe behavioural intervention in a continuum
Use techniques to verbally intervene and manage aggressive situations
Use body language, positioning and movement
Use 6 calming and 6 defusing techniques in the managing of the aggressive behaviour cycle
Apply defensive techniques and options to aggressive acts such as: blocking/redirecting strikes and blows, to release from chokes and grabs
This training is suitable for everyone who would like to learn how to safely manage aggressive behaviour in children and youth or adults
