PLEASE NOTE WE ARE STARTING AT 9:30. This workshop will provide a fundamental understanding of the brain and how it works; as well as, an understanding of acquired brain injury (ABI) and the ways in which individuals are impacted by an ABI. Time will be spent exploring the prevalence and implications of ABI among the homeless population. After lunch participants will learn about cognitive rehabilitation and specific strategies that can be used when supporting Clients with an ABI. Lots of time will be available for discussion and questions. 9:30 - 12:00 General Information on ABI 1:00- 3:30 Specific Strategies for Supporting Clients with ABI Presented by Victoria Butzer from The Vista Centre Brain Injury Services (VCBIS) A non-profit agency which has been providing quality, caring, and continual support to persons living with the effects of Acquired Brain Injury for more than 25 years
