Leadership
within housing support programs extends far beyond supervision and operations.
Leaders play a vital role in shaping workplace culture, supporting staff who
are regularly exposed to trauma and crisis, and creating environments where
both employees and the people they serve can feel safe, respected, and
supported.
This practical
and engaging workshop explores the core principles of trauma-informed care and
how they can be applied not only in service delivery, but also in leadership,
supervision, and organizational decision making. Participants will deepen their
understanding of how trauma affects individuals, teams, and workplace dynamics,
while learning to recognize the signs of trauma exposure, compassion fatigue,
burnout, and secondary traumatic stress in both themselves and their
staff.
Together, we will explore evidence-informed leadership practices that foster safety, trust, collaboration, choice, empowerment, and cultural humility, alongside practical strategies for strengthening psychological safety, peer support, reflective practice, and effective debriefing. Participants will leave with actionable tools to build a culture of collective care that supports staff well-being, enhances service quality, and creates more trauma-responsive organizations.
