HIV Education, Prevention and Treatment & Harm Reduction Strategies

The first half of the training is dedicated to HIV education, prevention and treatment. The presenters will touch on HIV basics; including HIV facts, priority populations, prevention methods, HIV Criminalization, connecting to HIV Testing and treatment Services and on-going care pathways.

The second half of the training is dedicated to Harm Reduction and how it has been implemented as a successful method of engagement and prevention when it comes to reducing exposure and the spread of Blood Borne Illness and Contamination of supplies for priority populations, including People Who Use Drugs. The presenters will touch on the Principles of Harm Reduction, Harm Reduction day-to-day and Harm Reduction Services.

 The training concludes with Overdose detection and reversal training, which includes the signs of an overdose, steps to respond to an overdose, types of Naloxone, administering Naloxone and tips for post overdose care.
