Understanding and Managing Resiliency

Hy ‘N’ Hancement Consulting Inc. Presents:  Understanding and Managing Resiliency Part of being in the social service field is to be resilient, dedicated, compassionate, calm and resourceful. During the coronavirus epidemic, helpers must draw on these skills and qualities even more than usual. The pandemic depleted people’s resiliency and the sense of purpose for the work we do. Helpers may respond differently based on their current situation, and it will vary according to their individual circumstances; therefore, it is crucial to practise self-care and self-compassion. In other words, you need to be as understanding and caring towards yourself as you are to other people you support.

Areas we will focus on:

  • Understanding resiliency and understanding your window of tolerance
  • Understanding the impact of trauma on helpers
  • What is secondary trauma, vicarious trauma, empathetic strain, traumatic bereavement, complicated grief, comparative suffering and PTSD?
  • Understanding trauma-informed approaches
  • Building resiliency for helpers
  • Mindfulness, self-compassion and self-care activities
  • How do we shift from ‘work life’ to ‘home life.’
