Description: Trans and 2SLGBTQ+ communities face high rates of gender-based violence (GBV), including intimate partner violence, street harassment and sexual violence. GBV targeting 2SLGBTQ+ people also often take a different shape than GBV towards cisgender and heterosexual women, such that GBV against 2SLGBTQ+ people is often unrecognized and unaddressed. This session will share key insights into GBV in 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and practical tools and skills to identify and address instances of GBV. Learning Objectives: • Understand the unique context of GBV targeting 2SLGBTQ+ people, and how GBV impacts 2SLGBTQ+ people. • Build concrete skills, including bystander intervention and safety planning, to support 2SLGBTQ+ people impacted by GBV.
