Integrating Motivational Interviewing into Practice (12 hours - four sessions of 3 hours) Thursdays Feb 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd

Whether you have previous Motivational Interviewing (MI) training and could benefit from a refresher, or are learning about MI for the first time, this training is designed from a strengths based learning perspective to support the journey of MI integration. We explore the theories that support MI and its efficacy (Psychological Reactance, Social Dominance Theory), and look at MI from an evolutionally perspective in order to build a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play within the worker/client relationship. We learn about, and work to integrate the core elements of MI (MI SPIRIT, Change Talk, OARS, 4 Processes) into practice through: experiential exercises, reflecting/debriefing personal and professional experiences related to change, and apply this insight into work with people experiencing homelessness. This 12-hour course is designed to take place over 4 weeks (four 3-hour sessions) to support the integration of MI into practice. Thursday mornings, 9am – 12 noon

You must attend all four sessions to receive certification,
